Rubén Valdez (b. Mexico, 1986) is an architect, artist, educator and publisher working between Switzerland and Mexico. He holds a masters in architecture from the Academy of Architecture of Mendrisio and a masters in fine arts from the École Cantonale d’art de Lausanne (ECAL). His practice is both independent and collaborative, operating at a variety of scales from the object to the built environment. Recent built projects include the hotel Paradero in Todos Santos, Mexico and the Forde art space in Geneva, Switzerland. From 2016 to 2024 he taught at the École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) as Head of Design Research within the ALICE laboratory , he is currently a visiting lecturer at ECAL. the and sits on the editorial board of the non-profit architectural platform CARTHA.
