我在大学虽然学习的是社会学专业，但是并没想过做研究。大学时，我和朋友拿了风险投资，开始创业。那时候我有很多时间，于是继续攻读了研究生。我的研究生毕业论文的主题是年轻人社群，我将相关的内容记录下来，最后整理成书，于2010年出版。这本书出版之后，就开始有人请我写其他书，媒体也开始找到我。后来我又出版了一本关于年轻人的社会学书籍，受到了媒体的关注，然后开始了研究者的工作。

我一直想通过其他媒介写一些社会学书里不能说，不太好写的东西，因此开始了小说创作。特别是2017年，我的祖母去世了，当时的心情不太想写到社会学书籍或者随笔里，而小说是一个更容易让人抒发感性的媒介。因为小说是虚构的，所以可以毫无保留地写下自己的想法。我认为这是小说的优势，于是从2018年开始陆续出版了几本小说。

I majored in sociology when I was in college, but I was not planning to become a researcher at that time. My friend and I took venture capital and started a small business. I found that I had a lot of spare time and therefore went to graduate school. My graduate thesis was about the community of young people, for which I documented the relevant sources and put it into a book. After the book being published in 2010, I was invited to write new books while some media started to contact with me. Later I published my second, again discussing on sociological topics of young people. This book had received media attention and consequently initiated my work as a researcher.

I was willing to try a new kind of form to write about things that are not allowed to discuss, or not easy to discuss in sociological works, and this was also the reason why I started writing novels. A turning point occurred in 2017, when my grandmother passed away, and I felt less inclined to work on sociology books or essays. A novel is a much more lyrical and emotional form of writing, allowing the writer to express his or her opinions and ideas without reservation. I thought it was exactly how novels work better. Therefore, I started to continue my creating on novels, and have made a few of them published since 2018.

我们有机会在电视新闻里发声，而我们说的话可能会对社会产生影响。与物理等自然科学不同，社会学研究的对象是社会，而研究者本身就是社会的一部分，这是社会学的特征之一，也会导致研究者难以做到中立。如何在两者之间找到平衡，用人们容易接受的语言传达自己的观点，是我在研究活动中一直在注意的问题。

社会学写作和研究总是要得到一个答案，或者推出一种假说。但是小说不同，小说不需要答案。我的小说里会以死亡等困难的问题为主题，然而对于死亡，每个人心中都要不一样的解读。在欧洲，也会探讨安乐死是否是一种正义。对于这些问题，小说是一种容易表达的形式。我可以让一个登场人物提出观点A，另一个人物提出B，二者对其进行讨论，从而更好地展现其中涉及的问题。

在社会学作品中，我以年轻人的心情来书写，为他们申辩发声，分析他们所面临的问题。我在25岁时出版了自己的第一本书《希望难民一行人》，26岁时出版了《绝望国度里幸福青年》。当时，日本国内对年轻人有着各种各样的讨论和分析，但是年轻人本身的声音却无法被社会听到。因此，我希望尽可能利用社会学书籍，从年轻人的立场出发，分析日本社会的问题，提出自己的见解。另一方面，我会利用小说来讨论一些年轻人之外的、更为普遍的问题，如死亡、疾病等。这些问题谁都会考虑，谁都无法逃避。

We have chances to be heard on public media, such as TV news, and what we said may leave an impact on society. Being different from natural science like physics, sociology proposes the task to research on society, and the sociologists themselves are part of the society, which will make it more difficult for the researchers to be neutral. Finding a balance between them, conveying my point of view in a language that is easy for the public to accept, is something that I have always been striving for in my activities of research.

Sociological writing and research are usually about getting an answer or coming up with a hypothesis. Novels are different, because they do not need an answer. I tend to take complicated issues, such as death, as the theme of my novels, yet everyone has a different interpretation of death. In Europe, people may discuss on whether euthanasia is a form of justice. Obviously, it is easier to discuss on such issues in a novel. For example, I could have one of the characters in my story to propose point A, to argue with the other proposing point B, which will finally lead to a better way of unfolding the problems involved.

In my sociological works, I write from the perspective of young people, speaking for them and analyze the problems they face. I published my first book The Hope Refugees when I was 25 and The Happy Youth in a Desperate Country in the following year. At that time, there were various discussion and analysis of young people in Japan, but the voices of young people themselves were not actually heard by the society. For this reason, I tried to use sociological writing to analyze the problems of Japanese society from the standpoint of young people. Meanwhile, I was creating novels to discuss on more general topics including death, illness, etc. These are problems that everyone will consider and do not have the possibility to escape from.

对我来说，比起待在同一个世界里，辗转于多个世界之中更有趣。如果只待在研究者的世界里，可能更多的是获得信息，想要输出的话，只能是在学会或研究所里，或者写论文给一小部分研究者看。与此相对，出演电视节目或出版面向大众的书籍，可以获得更多受众。因此，我自然而然地选择了在多个领域内展开活动。

这其中当然有很多困难，也会有一些质疑的声音。特别是来自传统研究者的批判，他们认为研究者就应该待在学术的世界里，这样才是正确的。另一方面，电视节目也有自己的一套规矩，我个人比较抗拒，也因此比较艰辛。

Personally speaking, it is more interesting to move around different worlds than staying in the same place. If I stay only in the world of researchers, what I could do is receiving information, working for an institute or being busy on a thesis if I want to make some output. In contrast, appearing in a TV show or publishing a book for the public can help me gain a larger audience. Therefore, I naturally chose to carry out my practice in a variety of fields.

This will of course lead to difficulties and doubts from other people, especially criticism from traditional researchers who believe that the only right thing for a researcher to do is to stay in the academic world. On the other hand, TV programs have their own rules, which might be against my will, making it more arduous for me to cope with.

但是我认为我的发展和时代的走向是一致的。2011年发生了东日本大地震，而我正好是那段时间开始参加电视节目的。由于地震，日本不得不做出改变，当时的社会潮流让社会需要更多地倾听年轻世代的声音。我这样的年轻人在电视这样的传统媒体上发声，正好与这种社会潮流相契合。十年前，不仅是我，许多和我一样的年轻作家、记者也获得了同样的关注。与其说是艰难发展，不如说是我当时写的作品刚好符合那个时代的需求。

而我的活动是自然而然地扩展到不同行业中的。最开始我出版了《希望难民一行人》和《绝望国度里幸福青年》，然后获得了越来越多的在电视、报纸、杂志等媒体上发声的机会。之后我定期出版了一些书籍，有关于年轻人创业的，有关于战争的，也有关于少子化和幼儿园问题的。这些书都是考虑到那个时代的需求而写的。我所关心的问题与社会的关注点、以及日本社会的问题是一致的。这些问题可以改变日本社会，它们不仅局限在电视里，杂志、学术圈、乃至政界都很关注。借此，我的书自然而然地被各个领域所接受。

However, I believe that my personal development is consistent with the development of the era. In 2011, the Great East Japan Earthquake happened, and that was when I had just started to do TV shows. The earthquake urged Japan to change, and the social was trending to further listen to the voice of young generation. Young people like me were speaking out for themselves through traditional medium, which fit right in with the trend of the society. Ten years ago, many young writers and journalists like me received the same attention. The book I wrote happened to be accordant to the needs of the era so that I didn’t face too many tough things during that period of time.

It was natural for me to expand my activities into different industries. At first, I published Kibo Nanmin and The Happy Youth in a Desperate Country， which brought me the opportunities to express my ideas on TV, newspaper and magazines. After that, I regularly published books with topics like youth entrepreneurship, wars, as well as sub-replacement of fertility and kindergarten facilities. These books were written in consideration of the needs at the time. The problems I focused on were consistent with the concerns of society. These issues could change Japanese society, and they were not confined to television; they were of interest to magazines, academic groups and even to political circles. For this reason, my books were naturally accepted by people from different fields.

定期地发表意见，出版书籍，保持活跃是我所面临的最大的挑战。有些人，一本书大卖，或者在一个领域内获得了成功，就会想继续待在那里，不再改变。但是，我认为这样是不好的。因此我会去写小说，也会出演各种各样的电视节目。对我来说，挑战是自然的，最重要的是尽可能地不在同一个地方停留，建筑师、艺术家、作家均是如此。

我认为作品的数量很重要。几乎没有作家一生只做出一件杰作。名垂千史的人大多创作了很多作品，其中一些优秀的作品得到了很高的评价。从中可以看出，创作大量作品，让社会中的受众和读者去评价，从而磨炼自己创作出更好的新作品，这点十分重要。因此，对我而言，最大的挑战就是持续、认真地工作本身。

上电视也好，出书也罢，都与时代的需求有关。如果社会不再需要我了，我就会改变工作的方式。然而，只要还有需要，我就会继续在不同领域活动，参加电视节目，写书，甚至写论文。这对我来说是最理所当然，也是最舒适的工作方式。如果只待在一个世界里，我总会觉得难以施展。在任何国家都是这样，如果只做一件事，会让人感到难以呼吸。人们可能会被禁锢在对这件事情的评价上，从而无法去做自己真正想做的事。如果能够有不同的选择，其中有自己最想做、最能发挥实力的部分，这样的工作更具想象力和创造性。

我并没有什么一定要实现的人生目标。因为我的想法会变，而社会本身也会变。在我十年的职业生涯中，基本是以时代和社会中最重要的问题，以及自己最关心的问题展开活动的。随着社会的变化，我的工作也会产生巨大的改变。目前为止我的作品大多是以东京或日本为主题。我希望能把研究范围扩展到不同的国家和地区，以保证内容的多样性。不管怎么说，现在日本的出版和娱乐业已经不能只做日本国内的生意了，我也希望能有更多日本以外的工作机会。

The biggest challenge I am facing is to stay active, giving opinion and publishing books regularly. For some people, when they have written a popular book or succeeded in one field, they will chose to stay in the same place without changing, which I do not think is a good sign. In addition to sociology writing, I would like to write novels and participate in various television shows. Challenges are natural, and the most important thing is to avoid staying still. This could also be applied to other profession like architects and artists.

I think it is important to create a large number of works. There is rarely a writer who only writes one master piece during his life time. Most of the celebrated writers have produced a mass of works, some of which received high evaluation. From this point we can see the significance of the quantity of the work of a writer. Sufficient works make it possible for an author to be evaluated by the audiences and hence to create better new works. In this way, the biggest challenge for me is to keep working, continuously and earnestly.

Whether it’s being on television or publishing a book, it is all about the needs of the current society. If the society no longer needs me, I will change my way of working accordingly. In other word, as long as the needs still exist, I will continue to be active in different fields. This is the most logical and comfortable way for me to work. When staying in only one world, I feel that my ability is restricted. It is the same circumstance in any other country: continuously working a same thing will make you hard to breathe. People could be locked into judgements and lose the capability to do the things they really love to do. If we could have different options, including parts that we want to do the most and could best exert our strength, A job will become more inspiring and meaningful when it offers different options, especially when there are parts that can encourage one to play to his or her strengths.

I don’t have a life goal that must be approached because my consideration might change and the society itself might change. During the ten years of my professional life, the activities I have taken were based on the most important issues of the time and society, as well as the problems I most concerned. If the society changes, the contents of my work will also change dramatically. Most of my published books take Tokyo or Japan as the theme. I hope that I could extend my research to different countries and regions in order to ensure the diversity. It is impossible for the current Japanese publishing and entertainment industry to only do business in Japan. I also want to have more working opportunities out of the country.

About Sociology Thinking

“我个人认为新冠肺炎的流行不会改变日本社会 … … 解决少子化问题是解决一切难题的根本方法 … … 在新冠病毒的影响下，日本新世代中能出现多少政治家、企业家，也会对此构成影响，目前看来情况不容乐观。”

最近，所有人都在关注新冠肺炎的问题。我个人认为新冠肺炎的流行不会改变日本社会。一直以来，日本社会的改变都是由于人口结构变化或领导者更替引起的世代更迭，新冠肺炎不符合这两个因素。完全没有影响是不可能的，但是新冠肺炎不会让日本社会产生翻天覆地的变化。

另一个我比较关心的问题在《托儿所的义务教育化》一书中也有提到，就是少子化和高龄化问题。少子化是日本最重大的问题。战后，1960年到1990年之间，日本有很多年轻人。年轻的劳动力多，因此物价低廉；年轻的消费者多，因此市场景气。现在年轻人少了，劳动者和消费者也随之减少，日本国内很难再进行大规模的生产和贩卖。解决少子化问题是解决一切难题的根本方法，但是日本一直在逃避，因此少子化对社会造成的打击将继续增长。到2040年，在婴儿潮时出生的团块世代都将成为65岁以上的高龄者，我很关心那时的日本社会会怎样。很多研究者认为可以通过AI、机器人等技术解决老人过多的问题，但是护理、照料等工作还是需要由人类来完成。到那个时候，日本能不能保证足够的劳动力，我表示怀疑。在新冠病毒的影响下，日本新世代中能出现多少政治家、企业家，也会对此构成影响，目前看来情况不容乐观。

Recently, people are focusing on the epidemic of Covid-19. Personally, I don’t think the pandemic will change Japanese society. In the history, Japanese society had been influenced mostly by demographic changes or by generational changes after the replacement of authority. The Covid-19 pandemic does not fit into either of these categories. It will exerts certain influence, but will not drastically change the Japanese society.

Another issue that concerns me is what I have mentioned in the book The Compulsory Education of Nursery Schools, which is about the low birth-rate and the aging of population. Low birth-rate is the biggest issue in Japan. After the World War II, from 1960 to 1990, the population of young people was large in Japan. There were numerous young labors and young consumers, resulting in a booming market strong purchasing power and low prices. Currently, as the number of young people is decreasing, there are less labors and consumers and it will be difficult to produce and sell things on a large scale in Japan. Solving the problem caused by low birth-rate is the fundamental solution to all problems, but Japan has always been avoiding it, so the negative influence it brings to the society will continue to grow. In 2040, the Dankai generation born during the baby boom will all be over 65 years old, and I am concerned about what Japanese society will be like then. Many researchers believe that the problem of population aging can be solved through AI and robot technologies. However, since nursing and care work still need a large number of labor forces, I doubt if there will be enough workforces in Japan by that time. The number of young people who will become politicians and entrepreneurs can also influence this situation, while the current condition is getting more severe, particularly under the impact of Covid-19.

“贫富差异自身不是很大的问题，能否扶持位于底端的人们的生活才是最重要的。”

日本的贫富差异和老龄化通常是重合的，即是说越是老人越有钱，而年轻人拥有的金钱和资产很少。这使得日本社会不同世代之间产生了鸿沟，但我认为这种差异自身不是很大的问题。差距再大，有钱人变得再有钱，对于社会来说，能否扶持位于底端的人们的生活才是最重要的。我认为比起解决贫富差距，减少绝对贫困率对国家和社会来说更为重要。从这点上看，现在的世界正在向好的方向发展。尽管贫富差距正在急剧扩大，但是贫困阶层的生活质量正在上升，世界中的平均寿命也在延长。过去，很多人会因为吃不上饭而被饿死；现在，因为吃得太多而死亡的人正在增加。在这个时代，人们需要重新审视“富足”的含义。比起所有人都很贫穷，即便存在巨大的贫富差距，但是最底层穷人的生活水准得到了提升，这样的状态更为重要。当然，为了提升原本的生活水平，我们还有许多不得不做的事情。现在的日本，即便是穷人，由于IT和其他技术的力量，也比以往过得更加幸福。

In Japan, the gap between rich and poor is often coincided with the aging problem. In other words, older people are wealthier while young people possess less money or assets. This has created a huge generational divide in Japanese society. But I don’t think the difference itself will be a big problem. No matter how big the gap is and how wealthier the rich become, the most important thing for society is whether the people at the bottom could be helped. Comparing to addressing the gap between rich and poor, it is more important to reduce the rate of absolute poverty. From this point of view, the world is moving towards a positive direction. Even though the gap between rich and poor is widening dramatically, the quality of life of the poor is being improved, and the average life expectancy in the world is also rising. In old days, people may starve to death. Today, more and more people die from overeating. In this era, people need to re-examine the meaning of “rich”. Although there is a huge gap between rich and poor, improving the quality of life of the lowest class is much more important than rising the standard of being rich. Of course, in order to improve the current status of living, we still have a lot work to do. Nowadays in Japan, poor people are happier than ever before, which is an objective circumstance benefiting from the power of IT and other technologies.

“我心中的理想社会是，无论出生在怎样的家庭，都能凭借自己的能力和努力从事各种各样的工作 … … 现在的年轻人与过去相比，拥有更多自由和可能性 … … 我们应该肯定自由的价值，积极接受并与其共同生活下去 … … 为了应对这种自由, 拥有多种专业技能, 是一种非常现实的生活方式。”

“In my mind, the ideal society is where everybody can engage in various domains depends on their abilities and hard work, no matter what kind of family they come from … Young people today have more freedom and possibilities than in the past … We should recognize the value of freedom and live with freedom … Possessing more than one professional skill could give you opportunities to turn to a new field when you failed the current job. I think this can be regarded as a very practical way to live.”

都是年轻人，生在富裕家庭里的年轻人和其他年轻人之间也有着很大的差别。虽然我认为差距本身不是问题，但是差距会从父母传递给子女，这不是一个好现象。我心中的理想社会是，无论出生在怎样的家庭，都能凭借自己的能力和努力从事各种各样的工作。因为父母有钱，工作好，子女也更容易获得好的工作，变得有钱，贫富差距因此遗传了下去，这不是一个良好的社会该有的样子。遗憾的是，包括日本在内的世界各国，都不可避免地出现了这种贫富差距的继承。这种状况必须得到改变。

现在的年轻人与过去相比，拥有更多自由和可能性。受新冠病毒的影响，出国旅行和出差变得十分困难。但是现代社会比过去任何时代，都更容易到世界不同国家旅游和工作。现在，人们在线上也可以完成工作，世界正变得空前得一体化。因此，年轻人有着非常多的可能性。问题在于自由和稳定不能兼得，越自由，越不稳定。粗略地说，以前的社会是稳定的，但没有自由；当今社会不是很稳定，但自由越来越多。不稳定的社会可能会令人感到不安。但是正是因为不稳定才有了现在的自由，我们应该肯定自由的价值，积极接受并与其共同生活下去。

为了应对这种自由，我认为获得专业的知识很重要。可以是写作的能力，管理的能力，采访的能力，按摩的能力，画画的能力，任何能力都可以。有些能力不喜欢也不要紧，重要的是拥有多种能力，最后能找到只属于自己的工作。在过去的日本，毕业后在一家公司工作到60岁退休是很正常的，但是现在不同。少数人从来不在公司工作，一直自由地生活。更多人在一家公司任职的同时兼负多项工作。拥有多种专业技能的话，哪怕一件工作失败了，也可以去其他行业发展。我认为这是一种非常现实的生活方式。

There is also a big difference between young people who born in wealthy families and the others. While I don’t think the difference itself is a problem, but it will be passed on from parents to their children, which I think is not a good sign. In my mind, the ideal society is where everybody can engage in various domains depends on their abilities and hard work, no matter what kind of family they come from. Young people who have wealthy parents are more likely to get good jobs and become rich, and thus the gap is inherited. This is not what a healthy society should be like. Unfortunately, this kind of inheritance is inevitable in all of the world, including Japan. Such situation is supposed to be changed.

Young people today have more freedom and possibilities than in the past. Currently affected by COVID-19, travelling abroad has become an issue. However, it’s still easier to travel and work today in different countries all over the world than in any previous era. People can work online in long distance and the world is much more integrated than ever before, and this provides young people with plenty of possibilities. The problem is that it’s hard to possess freedom while living a stable life. The freer you were, the less stable your life will be like. Roughly speaking, societies used to be stable but without freedom, and today it’s just the other way around. An unstable society might bring insecure feelings. But thanks to this insecurity, we are able to experience the pleasure of freedom, to recognize the value of freedom and ultimately, to live with freedom.

To become the master of freedom, it is important to acquire professional knowledge. It could be the ability to write, to manage, to interview, to do a massage, to draw, or to do anything. It doesn’t matter if you don’t like some of those. The important thing is to have a variety of abilities and use them to eventually find your own job. In the past, it was normal to work for a company after graduation until the retirement at the age of 60, but now it is different. Some people choose to never work in a company to live free, while many work for a company but do multiple jobs at the same time. Possessing more than one professional skill could give you opportunities to turn to a new field when you failed the current job. I think this can be regarded as a very practical way to live.

开始写小说后，很多以前不知道我的读者也读了我的作品。我的小说在十几岁的年轻人之中反响强烈，甚至有学生告诉我他们读的第一本小说就是我的书。通过小说这个媒介，我触及到了一些以前没有接收到我的声音的读者层。

对我个人来说，小说让我可以描述更加多样的、普遍的社会问题。当然，小说里能够描写的只是世界的很小一部分，但是有些重要的事情和秘密只有在故事的世界里才能展现。我的表达范围因此变得更加广阔。此外，小说是一种可以延续很长时间的媒介，现在写的书十年后也有可能被读到，并且获得不同的评价。留下自己的作品，获得不同时代的评价，对于创作者来说是一件十分令人开心的事。

After starting to write novels, I have got many new audiences who did not know me before. My novels have stimulated strong resonation among teenagers, and some of them even told me that my work was the first novel they had ever read. Through the medium of novel, I was able to get in touch with the readers that I could not reach before.

Personally, writing a novel could help me to tell more diverse and general social issues. Although only a tiny part of the world can be described in a novel, there are many important facts and secrets that can only be told in the form of stories. It expands the range of my expression. In the meantime, a novel is a medium that can last for a long time, which means a book written in current days may be read and evaluated in ten years or decades from now. It is a very enjoyable thing for the author to leave his or her work to the future and get comments and reviews from different generations.

我现在在Twitter上连载的《Ask me why》讲述的是立场不同的两人相互追寻的故事。在下一本小说里，我准备描写想法不同的两个人如何互相理解。这是现代社会普遍存在的问题。国与国的政治立场不同，经济情况不同，从而产生了巨大的差别。而在同一个国家之中，也会有各种各样的差别，如经济差距。人与人怎样才能跨越这些差距，相互关心，变得更加亲近？人类自古以来就在这么做，但使用的方法并不一定正确。这个问题十分普遍，却又十分困难。我希望能够进一步思考如何实现人与人之间的相互理解。这个问题当然可以通过社会学书籍和论文来反映。但是小说可以通过描写特定的人物，更加切身地去思考普遍性的问题。

Ask me why, the novel I am currently serializing on Twitter, is about two people who have different positions running after each other. In my next novel, I plan to depict how people hold different opinions come to understand each other. It is a common problem in the modern society. Political positions and economic situations lead to huge gaps between different groups. Even in the same country, there can be all sorts of discrepancies. How can people overcome these gaps, care for each other and become closer to each other? Humans have been trying to solve this problem since ancient time but the existing solution is not necessarily in the right way. It is a widespread problem and it’s hard to deal with. What I hope to do is to think further on how to realize mutual understanding among human beings. Such an issue can certainly be reflected in sociological books and thesis. However, novels can engage with the universal problems in a more intuitive way by taking on specific roles in the narrative.

我去过很多城市旅行，见识不同的社会让我感到心情愉悦，并且可以获得更多知识。大学期间我曾去挪威留学了一年，发现实际生活中感受到的社会氛围与书本上看到的全然不同。开始工作后，虽然不能长时间生活在世界各地，但我也会尽量挤出时间去不同的城市旅行。

在中国，我去过北京、上海、广州、大连、长春等城市。个人来说，我对北京和上海这样建设了最新的大楼、开发最快的城市更感兴趣，因为城市的魅力就在于城市居民魅力的变化。当然也有很多不变的城市，比如日本京都。但我更喜欢不断建造新的建筑，接纳新的人口，绘制新的未来蓝图的城市。欧洲的话，我喜欢英国的伦敦，德国的汉堡等等。这些城市中旧区利用与再开发并行，正在向新的城市努力转变。

I’ve been to many cities, and find it enjoyable to visit different societies. Meanwhile, it enriches my knowledge. I studied in Norway for a year during my collage, which made me realized that the social atmosphere I experienced in real life was totally different from what I knew from the books. After becoming a social man, I still try to squeeze time for traveling in different cities even if I couldn’t stay long.

I‘ve been to many cities of China, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Dalian and Changchun. Personally, I’m more interested in cities like Beijing and Shanghai that have been developed in a surprising speed with numerous up to date buildings. The charm of a city is exactly reflected in the change of its residents. Though there are unchanging cities like Kyoto, I prefer cities that are constantly developing, welcoming new populations, and creating new blueprints for the future. As for Europe, I love London and Hamburg. In these cities, historical neighborhoods are developing in parallel with the new ones, while efforts are being made to transform them together into new cities.

我在每个城市都有很多喜欢的建筑。我很喜欢伦敦的Battersea发电厂，建筑师将过去的发电厂改造成了公司的办公室，附近的区域也在改造之中。将近代建筑改造成不同功能，是我很感兴趣的一个点。

我也很关注摩天大楼。在上海，我很喜欢超过600米高的上海中心。有人认为高层大楼破坏了城市的美感。但是只有现代人能建造这样一幢超过600米的能够载入史册的摩天大楼。3000年前，古埃及人建造了金字塔；1000年前，人们也建造了有一定高度的建筑。但是只有在现代，才能让超过600米的高楼成为现实。从历史的角度来看，这是只有我们才能获得的体验。此外，金茂大厦也是我喜欢的超高层建筑之一。

I have a lot of favorite buildings in each city. For example, I really like the Battersea Power Station in London, where the architects transformed an old industrial structure into a new office building, and the nearby urban blocks have been renewed as well. The transformation of buildings into new use is what I have a big interest in.

I also love skyscrapers like the Shanghai Center, which is over 600 meters high, as well as the JinMao Tower. Some people may consider that the skyscrapers destroy the aesthetics of the city, but only in contemporary era can people build such a monument which can be written in human’s history. Since Egyptians built the pyramids 3,000 years ago, people are still trying to set a new record of building a skyscraper. But only in modern times can towers over 600 metres high become a reality. From a historical perspective, this is an experience that only belongs to us.

我最喜欢的艺术家之一是德国画家卡斯帕·大卫·弗里德里希。除此之外，我也经常欣赏当代艺术。在当代艺术中，以团队来活动的创作者很多。最近，我很喜欢Moment Factory在长崎创作的Island Lumina。

我认为当代艺术会向其所处的时代提出疑问。当然，我也很喜欢古典的艺术作品，但是当代艺术是由和我生活在同一个时代的艺术家创作的，对社会的存在方式发问，既有肯定也有批判。通过这些问题，我们可以更加深刻地理解这个社会。从这个角度来看，比起古典艺术，我更关注当代艺术。

One of my favorite artists is the German painter Casper David Friedrich. Besides, I always appreciate contemporary art pieces, especially of those who work as a team. Recently I really adore the piece called “Island Lumina” by Moment Factory in Nagasaki.

I think contemporary art is about questioning the era we live in. Of course I’m also fond of classical art, but the contemporary art touches me a lot because it is created by artists who live in the same era as I do. These works ask questions, both affirmative and critical, about society’s way of being. Through these questions, we can have a further understanding of our society. From this perspective, I feel more interested in contemporary art than in classical art.

未来计划
Plans for the future

尽管根据新冠病毒的持续时间可能会发生改变，但我个人会和往年一样出版新书。今年夏天，我在Twitter连载的《Ask me way》将出版发行；秋天我计划出版一本关于日本历史的书；明年开始定期发表的小说也已准备就绪。电视台和杂志的工作也将继续，并不会有什么特变的变化。不同的是，2020年我不能去任何国家，基本只能待在东京，这种情况对我来说很罕见，也很期待这么特殊的一年会对我产生什么影响。

目前，我的作品中只有《绝望国度的幸福青年》在中国出版。很快，韩国就会翻译出版我的一本新书，而中国由于国内书籍较多，翻译的日文作品相对比较少。今后，我希望能够有更多自己的作品在中国出版。

Although being influenced by the COVID-19, I’m going to engage with the publication of my new books as planned. This summer, Ask Me Way, my latest serialization on Twitter, will be officially published. In the fall, I’m going to publish a book on Japanese history, while another novel is also ready for serialization beginning from next year. My activities on TV and magazines will continue as usual. The difference is that in 2020 l’m not able to be abroad. Being stuck in Tokyo is a rare situation for me, but still I’m still expecting to see what will happen in such a special year.

Currently, among all of my books, only The Happy Youth in a Desperate County has been published in China, and one of my new books will soon be translated and published in South Korea, Due to the large amount of domestic writers and their works, books in Japanese are relatively less published. In the future, I hope to have more of my works published in China.
