UAO瑞拓设计受瑞安新天地武汉天地委托，在新天地商业街内设计并搭建一个城市级艺术装置。新天地商业街位于原租界永清片区，属于汉口历史风貌区的一部分；保留的红砖红瓦的租界老建筑，其街巷和建筑尺度宜人。在鸟瞰尺度上，掩映在绿树和街道中的红瓦屋面，形成了有汉口沿江地域特色的城市肌理。

UAO Design was commissioned by the Rui’an Xintiandi Group to design and build a night market in the Tiandi commercial street area of Wuhan. Wuhan Tiiandi, a part of Hankou’s historical style area, is located in the Yongqing area of the former concession. The old buildings of the concession retain red bricks and red tiles, and their streets and buildings are pleasant in scale. On a bird ‘s-eye scale, the red-tiled roofs hidden in the green trees and streets form the urban texture with the regional characteristics of Hankou along the river.

场地离长江和汉口江滩不远，从江面到新天地商业街，再到搭建场地，最后到壹方南馆商业综合体，其地形和建筑天际线以及建筑密度，是一个由低到高的过程。搭建场地恰好处于由低到高的一个巨变节点上，它链接有历史老建筑的新天地商业街和全新建筑的武汉天地商务集群及壹方南馆——是新与旧的链接节点，是过去和现在的链接节点。

The site is not far from the Yangtze River and Hankou Beach. From the river surface to Xintiandi Commercial Street, to our construction site, and finally to Horizon Commercial Complex, its terrain, architectural skyline, and architectural density are a process from low to high. The construction site happens to be on a node of great change from low to high, which links the Tiandi commercial street with historical old buildings and the Horizon Commercial Office building group of new buildings. Additionally, it is a link node between the new and the old, a link node between the past and the present.

这个场地周边围合了几十年的香樟和法国梧桐，使得场地的“聚气”的气质特别明显，所以构思了一个上部弧形屋面、下部方形基座的，类似“宫殿”的造型，也即“家”的原型。上小下大的造型对周边大树围合的天空开口做了最小的侵占，让自然光仍能倾泻下来；而半透明的屋顶材质，让建筑很轻地立在场地上，这种微妙的介入，既是对场地的尊重，又是对场地特征的彰显。

This site is surrounded by decades of camphor and French plane trees, making the “gathering” feature of the site particularly obvious, so we conceived a curved roof at the top and a square base at the bottom, similar to the shape of a “palace”, in other words, the prototype of “home”. The shape of small on the top and large on the bottom makes the minimum encroachment on the sky opening surrounded by surrounding big trees so that natural light is still able to pour down. The translucent roof material allows the building to stand lightly on the site. This subtle intervention not only shows respect for the site but also highlights the characteristics of the site.

建筑的形态营造了一个“篷下”空间，体现“一家人”的氛围；也是希望通过这个空间达到“时尚引力场”的效果。在材料使用上，用了脚手架、桁架、阳光板、网格布等半透明、轻质的材料，来体现未来的建筑不一定是“厚重”的，而是“轻”的，“透明”、“柔软”的理念，“轻、薄、透”代表着未来建筑设计的一个发展方向，也是这次项目气质上的兴奋点所在。

The form of the building creates a “canopy” space, reflecting the atmosphere of “family”; It is also expected to achieve the effect of a “fashion gravitational field” through this space. The use of materials, the use of scaffolding, trusses, sunlight panels, grid cloth, and other translucent or lightweight materials reflect the future of the building is not necessarily heavy, but light, transparent, and soft. The concept of light, thin, and transparent architecture represents a future architectural design direction, but this project’s feature makes us excited.

主体结构采用的脚手架、以及搭建商铺的预制桁架均为租用，它们和阳光板都是可重复利用的材质，和瑞安新天地所倡导的可持续理念不谋而合。装置搭建所需要的电缆和LED灯带也可以部分回收，环保可持续。使得40天的呈现对场地和生态环境的干扰降到最低。

The scaffolding used in the main structure and the prefabricated trusses used to build the shops are rented. It is worth mentioning that they as well as the sunlight panels are reusable materials, while the cables and LED strips needed for construction can also be partially recycled. Owing to being Environmentally sustainable, the 40-day market minimizes the disturbance to the site and the ecological environment.

新型外装饰材料的使用，是这次项目的研究和实验的重点：

一是材质的颜色选择和比较；
二是各种材料透明度的研究。

The use of new exterior decoration materials is the focus of the research and experiment of this project:

First, the color selection and comparison of materials;
The second is the study of the transparency of various materials.

首先，建筑的颜色选定为橙色，包括橙色的阳光板、橙色的半透明网格布等等，这个火热的橙色，是我们刻意与武汉夏天火热的一次宣战——打不过就加入。它也代表了武汉人热情、甚至脾气“火爆”的一面。而在中间橙色的泳池，却又是体现武汉夏天爱水的一面，与水共生（戏水游泳），与水斗争（比如抗洪），也是武汉夏天的日常。

在设计过程中，我们最先确定的是橙色的阳光板，得益于2022年设计《武汉流浪动物基地收养处》的经验，又在《UAO“野生“的设计展》上得到验证。然后根据这个橙色阳光板，去定网格布的材质，在比较了橙色防裂网和户外广告网格布的各种优劣点后，最后现场快要实施阶段，才决定用B1阻燃级别的橙色户外网格布（在其他指标，防裂网都优于网格布，尤其是显色性上，但我们发现，总有一部分人在接触后皮肤会过敏，最终因为这一条，坚决放弃了防裂网）。

First of all, the color of the building is selected as orange, including orange sunshine board, orange translucent grid cloth, etc. This hot orange is our war with Wuhan in summer – since we can’t beat it, why not join it? It also represents the enthusiasm and even the “hot” side of the Wuhan people. The orange swimming pool in the middle reflects the love of water in Wuhan’s summer. Living with water (swimming in the water), while fighting with water (such as flood fighting), is also the daily life of Wuhan in summer.

During our design process, thanks to the experience of designing the Wuhan Stray Animal Adoption Base in 2022, and the verification in the UAO “Wild” design exhibition. we first determined the orange sunshine board. Then determine the material of the grid cloth according to this orange sunshine board. After comparing the various advantages and disadvantages of the orange anti-crack net and outdoor advertising grid cloth, we finally decided to use the B1 flame retardant level of orange outdoor grid cloth during the construction phase. Though the anti-crack net is better than the grid cloth in other indicators, primarily the color rendering, we found that there are always some people who will be allergic to the skin after contact. For this reason, we resolutely gave up the anti-crack net.

在选定了网格布后，接着需确定其颜色的色号，在按RGB打印了多个色号的样板后，通过3000K色温灯（因我们最后确定的是3000K的LED灯带照明），最后决定用250、135、0的橙色，单面打印网格布。事实证明，在晴天和夜晚，其屋面橙色和阳光板很一致，只有在阴天或阴影下，屋面颜色有点偏粉。

Following the selection of the grid cloth, it is necessary to choose the number of its color. After printing a number of color samples according to RGB, we finally decided to use 250, 135, 0 orange, single-side printing grid cloth through the 3000K color temperature lamp (because we finally determined to use the 3000K LED lamp for lighting). It turns out that on sunny days and at night, The roof and sunshine board are uniformly orange, only on cloudy days or shadows, the roof tent to be a little pink.

而不同材质之间的不同透明度，是让整体的橙色，显示出丰富性的一个策略。在阳光下，屋顶网格布适当的透明度，给予地面浅浅的影子；每片网格布之间的空隙，形成地面一道道光影，从而给予了这个构筑物以建筑感。网格布柔软的性质，自然下垂感又赋予了一般建筑不一样的张力。

弧形的橙色屋顶，结合L型四方的平面，其母体很好的呼应了租界老建筑的屋顶形态和颜色。在平面布局上，四周是桁架搭建的商铺，结合桁架的200、400、1000、2000的模数，搭建成2米X4.4米X3米的单元网格。结合壹方南馆到新天地商业街的重要交通节点，依托人流方向的对角线来规划商业内街的出入方向。

The different transparency between different materials is a strategy to make the orange color show richness and layering. The appropriate transparency of the roof grid cloth grants the ground a shallow shadow in the sunlight. The gaps between each grid fabric form a trail of light and shadow on the ground, thus giving this structure an architectural sense. The soft nature of the mesh cloth and the natural sagging purpose give a different tension that can’t be found in general buildings.

The curved orange roof, combined with the L-shaped plan, echoes the roof shape and color of the old concession buildings well. In the plane layout, surrounded by shops built with trusses. Combined with the modules of 200, 400, 1000, and 2000 trusses, we built a grid of 2 meters X4.4 meters X3 meters. After analyzing the important traffic nodes from the South Hall of Tiandi to the commercial street of Wuhan Tiandi, the entrance and exit direction of the commercial street is planned based on the diagonal of the flow direction.

中间用脚手架刷成橙色，搭建10米X10米X9米的立方体（9米的高度，也是因为脚手架一般是6米和3米的尺度限制）。为了确保临时建筑的安全，在脚手架的搭建上，增加四面内外X撑，并在内外脚手架之间增加斜拉杆；用防汛沙袋增加底部配重防风；而外部桁架连成一个整体框架，同时增加了八个水箱配重。

The cube of 10 X10 X9 meters (the height of 9 meters is also because the scaffold is generally 6 meters and 3 meters) is built by scaffold which is painted orange in the middle. In order to ensure the safety of the temporary building, During the construction of the scaffold, we add X supports on the both inside and outside of the structure, and the inclined tie rods are set between both sides of the scaffolding. We use flood control sandbags to increase the bottom weight to prevent wind. While the external trusses are connected into one overall frame, eight tanks are added to the counterweight.

脚手架中间布置泳池：泳池的正中，上方对着天空的开口，如同武汉里分建筑中的天井，也是将自然与建筑结合的一个“题眼”。泳池屋顶上，坐立着一个气膜人——“跳水的人”。商业建筑需要这样的气氛，作为建筑师的我们并不抗拒，甚至欢迎。它为街区提供了一个视觉焦点，让建筑的传播性更强。

The pool is arranged in the middle of the scaffolding, on the middle of which, the sky over the opening, is like the courtyard of the historical buildings in Wuhan, and it is also a “problem eye” that combines nature and architecture. An inflatable man, “the diver”, is sitting on the roof of the pool. Commercial buildings need such an atmosphere, and as architects, we do not resist, or even welcome it. It provides a visual focus for the block and makes itself more communicative.

在装置的中间，设置了12张竹床。竹床虽然只是空间内的一个设计，但是它却是30年前老武汉人、湖北人夏夜消暑纳凉的利器：夏日傍晚，在街头巷尾，水一洒、抬出竹床、大家在室外围坐一起，看电视、聊家常、吃宵夜、做作业，一晚安睡到第二天露水上身……生活平淡而真实。

竹床的元素，是希望让来这里的游客，进入篷下空间后，如同穿越到30年前，拾起旧日回忆：透明的篷下、热烈的颜色、纳凉的竹床、朋友间的相聚。平实而丰满的武汉夏夜，DIVE IN SUMMER!

In the middle of the market, 12 bamboo beds are set up. Although the bamboo bed is only a small device in space, it is the hot weapon to cool off the summer night of the old Wuhan, Hubei people 30 years ago: In the summer evening, people living in the streets sprinkled water to the ground, carried out the bamboo bed. Everyone sit together outdoors, watch TV, talk about home, eat snacks, do homework, sleep a night to the next day dew… Life is plain and real.

The element of the bamboo bed is to lead visitors here to go back to life 30 years ago after entering the space under the canopy. Picking up those old memories of a transparent canopy, warm color, cool bamboo bed, gathering between friends, plain and full Wuhan summer night. DIVE IN SUMMER!
