Appreciation towards Hanne Willmann for providing the following description:

花瓶主要由两部分组成，一个高约17厘米的直筒玻璃瓶和一个混凝土长扣盖。
在混凝土中加入粘合剂，使得造出5毫米厚的轻而坚固的混凝土成为可能。

With the “Willmann Vase” my ambition was to play with contrasts and the fragility of glass. The concrete is set above the glass, so you can only see the stalk of the flowers. It is very simple but also a little clever. It is great when products surprise at first sight.

The vase consists of two parts: one is the straight , around 17cm high glass ; and the other is the concrete cover. It sits on top of the Glass and can be taken off. This is very useful – especially in case of cleaning.

The material of the concrete is called „polyconcrete“. This is a concrete that uses polymers to supplement cement as a binder. Another advantage are its’ little weight and high stability. This way it was possible to pour the concrete part with a thickness of only 5mm.

The shape of the concrete cover was a result of the need to hold a flower bouquet together. Also I wanted to emphasize the roughness and coldness of the strong material concrete with a simple and straight shape. The glass appears even more fragile this way and makes a great contrast.

花瓶设计还可以衍生出一个系列。

The first prototype of the Vase was shaped on a turning lathe and afterwards made into a plaster mold. (see the pictures below).

It took a few attempts to deform the concrete part correctly but in the end the result spoke for itself.
