在上海康定路上的“the others”，是Mur Mur Lab设计，刚营业不久的一家特调店。

“The Others” on Kangding Road in Shanghai, is a newly opened special store designed by Mur Mur Lab.

城市象征
Urban Symbol

“城市就像一块海绵，吸取着涌动记忆的潮水，并且随之膨胀。”

“The city is like a sponge, sucking up the tidewater of memory and swelling with it.”

康定路是上海静安区内的一条老街，在上世纪二三十年代，以遍布其间的弄堂小厂闻名。今天这些弄堂小厂已经逐渐外迁，但繁华市井的商业氛围保留了下来。“the others”的场地很奇特，是两开间沿街的窄长条。宽的一条开间有3m，窄的仅有1.5m。受限于老房子的砖混结构，它们仅在末端有一个门洞相连。

Kangding Road is an old street in Shanghai’s Jing ‘an district. In the 1920s and 1930s, it was famous for its small factories and alleyways. Today these small factories have gradually moved out, but the commercial atmosphere of the bustling market remains. “The Others” has an unusual place. It is a narrow strip of two rooms along the street. The wide one is 3 meters and the narrow one is only 1.5 meters. Limited by the brick and concrete structure of the old house, they are connected only by a doorway at the end.

对于这个奇特的场地，“阳台”是我们找到的城市参照物。阳台，往往处于最私密处，是流线的尽端；但又因对外敞开，在体验上具有很强的公共性。在疫情期间，因为居家隔离无法外出，阳台就成了新的城市公共社交场所。意大利人还举办了有趣的“阳台音乐会”。私密和公共并置的城市阳台，也是我们对场地的第一感受。

For this strange site, the “balcony” is the urban reference we found. The balcony often is in the most illicit close place of the space, it is the end of dimensional streamline; But because it is open to the outside world, it has a strong public experience. During the COVID-19 pandemic, balconies have become the new public social Spaces in the city, as people are unable to go outside due to home quarantine. Italians also hold interesting “balcony concerts”. The juxtapositing of private and public urban balconies was also our first impression of the site.

并列的长条形空间，从宽的一侧进入，穿过尽头的洞口，再回身绕到窄侧端头的户外。在此处，市井繁华的城市在面前铺成展开，但抬高的地面和压低的屋顶又限定住你，好像与环境疏离开，身处其外。一块黑色扁钢，既是扶手，也是桌面。在此处，虽仍在一层，但越于城市之上。体验上，这里就是一处迷人的城市阳台。

The juxtaposed rectangular Spaces enter from the wide side, pass through the hole at the end, and then turn around to the outside at the narrow end. Here, the bustling city spreads out before your eyes, but the raised ground and lowered roof confine you as if you were out of touch with your surroundings. A black flat steel plate serves as both the handrail and the table top. Here, still on the first floor, but above the city. It is a charming city balcony on the experience.

Dali
达利

达利是一种隐喻。有谁会不喜欢直戳内心又永恒经典的事物？艺术家的智慧正在于此。不管是流淌的时钟还是静止的当下，留给进入者一个留白的空间进行想象。

Dali is a metaphor. Who doesn’t love something that goes straight to the heart and is timeless and classic? This is where the artist’s wisdom lies. Whether it is a flowing clock or a static present, the entrant is left with a blank space for imagination.

《记忆的永恒》是使人印象深刻的达利名画。在那一刻时间以钟表作为符号，好像静止成了雕塑，也成了镜子，成了桌板，成了一个房间。

“The Eternity of Memory” is an impressive painting by Dali. At that moment, time took the clock as a symbol, as if the stillness became a sculpture, a mirror, a table, a room.

The People

开业之后，生意很好。我们特地请摄影师拍了一组使用中的真实场景。

Business at the store was good after the opening. We specially asked the photographer to take a set of real scenes in use.

坐在长凳上的人，围在吧台旁的人，在达利的房间拍照的人，站在阳台上的人。他们喜欢这里的角角落落，但他们不会知道“城市阳台”和这背后艰难的思考。但这些也并不重要，就像“一棵树摇动另一颗树，一朵云推动另一朵云”，我们的记忆唤醒他们身体的记忆。空间成为一种隐喻，这背后相通的，是永恒的生活。

People sitting on benches, people around the bar, people taking pictures in Dali’s room, people standing on the balcony. They love the nooks and cranny, but they don’t know about the “city balcony” and the hard thinking behind it. But it doesn’t matter, either. Like “a tree shakes another tree, or a cloud pushes another cloud,” our memories awaken the memories of their bodies. Space becomes a metaphor, which is connected behind, it is eternal life.

On a daily afternoon, I hope you can walk in here, stand on the balcony, and have a simple drink.
