Appreciation towards SG Design for providing the following description:

设计师有些方面跟艺术家很像，就譬如，天职是为他人描绘一个理想境界。那么，想要委托人信服你的设计，是不是你所处环境至少必须有一定境界，才可以有一定的话语权呢？这就是设谷的逻辑。这些，你都可以在我们的新作——设谷设计事务办公室所里感受到。

Designers are similar to artists in some ways. For example, bounden duty is to depict an ideal state for others. So, if you want the client to believe in your design, is it necessary for you to have at least a certain level of context in order to have a certain right to speak? This is the logic of Valley setting.You can feel this in our new work, SG design office.

能打造一个真正极简、留白，属于自己的办公空间，想想就让人兴奋，但难度也同样会让许多人望而却步。众所周知，水墨画的留白艺术，至少还有寥寥几笔勾勒；而我们办公室，从二维平面变成三维空间后，除了几乎无尽的白色，就只有空间折角和灯光，极简得歇斯底里。

It’s exciting to think about creating a truly minimalist, blank office space of your own, but it’s equally difficult for many people. As we all know, there are at least a few sketches of the blank art of ink and wash painting, and our office, after turning from a two-dimensional plane into a three-dimensional space, is almost endless white except for space corners and lights, minimalist hysteria.

我们的空间表达，可以概括为“用建筑的语言设计空间”和“明暗、线面对话”，进门和走道就是最好的力证。仅靠单单一堵白墙，就能给人以犀利震撼的感受。我们还在走道里反复刻画了不停变化的墙体关系。让“自然界最便宜也是最宝贵的光”自如穿梭，而光源埋伏其中，“见光不见源”，空灵多变。在我们看来，没有比这对自然更好的礼赞了。

Our space expression can be summarized as “design space with architectural language” and “light and shade, line-to-line dialogue”. The entrance and corridor are the best evidence. A single white wall alone can give people a sharp sense of shock. We have repeatedly portrayed the changing wall relationship in the aisle. Let “nature’s cheapest and most precious light” shuttle freely, and the light source ambushed in it, “see the light without the source,” the air is changeable. In our view, there is no better praise than this.

在走道每个静美的转折之处，我们布置了树、枯山水，和电雾玻璃布景，它们静静地出现其中，像是拔地而起的生命，为这里点燃了生气……背后的用意，就是让整个空间打破所有框架和定义，自如自由自成其韵。大到浑然天成的侘寂之美，小到细腻的明暗变化，都充满着惊心动魄的大美。

At each quiet and beautiful turning point in the corridor, we decorated trees, dry mountains and rivers, and fog glass scenes, which quietly appeared among them, like life rising from the ground, and ignited life here…The intention behind this is to let the whole space break all the frameworks and definitions, freely and freely. Great to natural beauty of silence, small to delicate changes in light and shade, are full of breathtaking beauty.

在功能布局上，我们更主张“开放”和“可变”，不做多余的设计，但做充满实用和拥抱变化的设计。你可以看到我们的多媒体厅，看似是被做了克制的减法和功能的区别——一侧只有简练的长条会议桌和开会专用的“最不舒服的椅子”；另一侧为下沉的会客聊天区和“最舒服的椅子”。整体环境白色平和，隐去存在感。但事实上，这堵白墙背后，或是奖杯墙，是电视，是储物墙，甚至巨大书柜，功能丰富强大令人震撼。而且，如果你在娱乐情景下进入，性冷淡的白色光会消失不见，转而代之的，是充满情绪的彩色灯光，落地玻璃调整到雾化状态，打开电视，响起音乐，毫不违和。另外，还有休闲、会客灯光等各种情景模式，这都是我们根据心理学和情景需要，设计的智能光控系统和可变布局。

In terms of functional layout, we advocate “open” and “changeable” rather than redundant design, but do design full of practical and embrace change. You can see our multimedia hall, seemingly a restrained subtraction and a functional distinction — “the most uncomfortable chair” for one side of the concise, long conference table, and “the most comfortable chair” for the other side of the sinking chat area. The whole environment is white and peaceful. But in fact, behind this white wall, or the trophy wall, is a television, is a wall of storage, and even a huge bookcase, rich and powerful shock. Moreover, if you enter the entertainment scene, the cool white light will disappear, instead, is filled with emotional colored lights, landing glass to adjust to the atomization state, turn on the TV, sound the music, no contradiction. In addition, there are leisure, visitor lighting and other scenarios, which are designed according to the needs of psychology and scenarios, intelligent optical control system and variable layout.

类似的，“用冷感的科技和物件，去对冲转化，表达温度”，也是设谷的另一大特色。譬如，创始人的办公室里，看似粗犷的砖石，背后是采汲灵感时，和朋友相谈甚欢的故事；而清泠的宣纸灯，则是用现代的方式去表达更深层次的传统古韵……这都是在阅历变化和自我打磨中，我们投影其中的情感细味和心路证据，极珍贵而不可复制。只是，“不是所有设计都可以称为极简”，所有藏而不露，所有极简都需要代价。这代价，就是所见背后，设谷全员十年磨一剑的设计心力，和为实现理想高度不断涅槃重生的自我挑战与定力。

Similarly, “using cold technology and objects to hedge transformation, expression of temperature,” is another feature of SG. For example, in the founder’s office, the seemingly rugged bricks and stones are behind stories of conversations with friends when inspiration is gathered, and the cool paper lanterns are used to express the deeper traditional rhyme in a modern way… This is in the experience of change and self-polishing, we projected the emotional delicacy and mental evidence, very precious and irreproducible. But “not all designs can be called minimalism,” all hidden, all minimalism comes at a price. This price is seen behind the whole staff of SG ten years to sharpen a sword of design effort, and to achieve the ideal height of Nirvana rebirth of self-challenge and determination.
