Is there anything happened impressed you the most abroad?

What do you miss the most about China?

好久没有和兄弟伙些打球，深夜熬图放rap, 全城找江湖菜
Long time no playing basketball with my bros; draw together with rap music; search the delicious Chinese food in the whole city.

你会回国吗？为什么？
Will you come back? Why?

会，这里没有纯正的火锅和江湖菜
Of course, there is no real hotpot and Chinese food with spicy.

出国后在不同的背景下再看中国是否看得更清晰，有哪些感触？
Is it more distinct to view China in a different environment after going abroad? Any thought?

会觉得眼前的所有都是虚假的，是人为有意营造的，没有真相，只有愿意给你的真相。
I feel that all the things what happened in front of me are hypocritical, and the atmosphere is created by someone on purpose. There is no truth, and only the truth they want to show you.

你的学校有哪些教育特点？
What are the educational characteristics of your school?

Pratt institute 是一所艺术院校，校区比较小，各个学院交流很容易，所以可以有很多跨界的灵感。建筑学院教学风格偏先锋参数化，教授风格迥异，他们会根据自己的关注点教学，有的从线空间出发，有的从一些实验出发，有的从社会学经济学数据出发，几年下来学生学到的东西会比较发散和多元化。

Pratt institute is an art school, and its campus is small. Different colleges can communicate easily, therefore there will be come out large amounts of inspiration from each other. The teaching style‘s architecture school is more tend to pioneer parametric, and each professor has their own characteristic. In generally, they teach depend on concerning that they concern at ordinary times. Some professor focus on linear space, some focus on experiments, and some from sociology and economics data. After several years, we will learn more divergent and diversified.

你现在工作公司的特色和有趣的地方？
Can you discuss the characteristics of the company you are working for?

目前主理Chaos studio，除了自己设计球鞋以及街头产品，另一个概念是将国内的设计带到纽约，经过一年的生活，我感受到这边的街头品牌并没有想象中在创造力和诚意上远超国内品牌的设计，相反国内还背着抄袭，没有创新，血汗工厂的标签，我觉得有必要把好的东西拿过来交流一下。团队目前只有两个人，这样有个好处就是最大发挥每个人的能量，去研究每个街头品牌的发展史，到各大店铺踩点，看它们的概念和怎么相互合作。

I manage “Chaos studio”, we are not only design the sneakers but also bring China’s designs to NY, because from the experience of last year I feel the brands’ creativity and sincerity here are not better than hometown’s design, by the contrast, fakers, no-creativity, sweat-factory are our marks, so we decide to bring something fantastic here to communicate with local brands. At present, we are just a group of two people, but it’s good for us to develop our ideas and energy, to study the history of different brands, to experience the stores, and to learn how they collaborate with each other.

最喜欢的艺术家（绘画音乐电影等广泛范围）是谁？给你创作带来了什么影响？
Who is your favorite artist (in wider range such as art, music, movie)? What is the influence?

希区柯克，他的一镜到底影响了我的作图，让透视，平面，剖面具有场景感；有井上彦雄，他的灌篮高手到浪客行，表现的是一个人不同时间段的状态，当你达到一个又一个目标之后，要怎样守住自己的热爱；还有伦勃朗的画，从本科开始我的线和草稿就很乱，一开始会觉得困扰，后来无意中看到伦勃朗的画，我豁然了。

Hitchcock, his “one scene to the end” has huge influence on my different drawing, from the inspirations, I strive to make my perspective, plan, section vivid with scene; about Intake, from his “Slam dunk” to “Vagabond”, I learn that his works show one man’s different status in different period, when you attend one peak and one other peak, try to keep your love and passion; about Rembrandt, from the undergraduate my lines and sketches are chaos, so I suspect that I not suitable for design, however, when I see Rembrandt‘s drawing, I relax.

觉得自己的作品集有哪些迷人的特质？
What amazing character do your works have?

场景感，我作图的时候会考虑时间，季节，天气，环境，人物，材质，事件；分析图少，当我把透视平面剖面画完之后，我再去画分析图是痛苦的

Vivid scenes, I always consider time, season, climate, environment, people, material, and activity into my drawing; few diagrams, when I finish the perspective, plan, section, it’s painful to draw diagrams.

When did you start to follow gooood? Any suggestions?

2010年吧，里面的很多讨论都很有趣，能看到其他人在研究什么。关于建议，可以有一个app，这样其实会有更多人参与讨论。关于网站真心不用再加功能了，就爱她过去现在的样子。

Since 2010, there are a lot of discusses at gooood. And also we could see what happened on others. There will be more people participate in gooood if you bring an app. To be frank no need to add more functions, I love what it used to be and what it looks like now.

W O R K

1. 线成空间 Space from lines
Fall 2015 design studio at Pratt institute
Instructor: Philip Parker
Assistant: Hannibal Newsom

Site: 300 Mercer St, NY设计过程并不是一开始从调研场地开始，而是教授让我们去找一个关于水的现象（我选的三角洲现象），然后把这个现象用线表现出来，然后用maya做动画动态表现这个现象，最后在rhino里面将现象中的线变成面，这个时候才去场地调研，研究人物社交活动，场地的环境，结合一个你感兴趣的人物活动视频 (我选的是一个打架视频)，人物活动错综，每一个过程都用线去表现出来，然后找到你感兴趣的点，最后将你的面和后面的线联系起来，用线的特点去定义面形成的空间。简单的讲就是如何用线性之间的特点来探索空间的过程。

The process didn’t begin from the research on site, and professor asked us to find one phenomenon about water. We utilized the lines to show the process of phenomenon（I choose the delta experiment）, then we use maya to build an animation lines to show the process of phenomenon in 3D view, finally put all these animation lines into rhino to transfer them to surface; at this time, we went to the site to deal with the study of site social and site environment, then combined both with one video with activity we were interested in (I chose a fighting video which people’s action is complex). Again we need to make use of lines to show all the three types of processes (social, material, and fight). In the end, we could define the surface with the trait of these lines. In a word, it is a process that how use the character of lines to explore the space’s character.

2. 城市标签 City Icon

当我们想到一个城市的建筑标签的时候，经常会是关于政治，宗教，商业，但是关于教育的却几乎没有。学校的设计顽固枯燥，模式化的教育，孩子们在那些死板固定的空间里被成年人赋予各种禁锢的思想，就像工厂一样，孩子们只是一群外貌不同的思想复制品。所以方案一开始就从形式上表达对曼哈顿标志们的叛逆。空间层次形式来于老重庆码头，大阶梯不但是公共空间还是连接各个鳞次栉比空间的桥梁。

When we think about an architecture icon of a metropolitan, it’s more about politics, religion, commerce, however, when it comes to be education there is little information. Schools’ designs are tedious and schools’ education is stereotype. Children are imparted with conservative idea in these tedious space, like a factory, children are just a group of fakers with different appearance. That’s why the project begin with reversing the form of Manhattan icons, the hierarchy of space stems from old pier of Chongqing, these big stairs not only offer the public space but also connect different crossing space.

3. 特效初探 Research on Effects

由于一直对电影场景特效感兴趣，所以借着媒体课，把玩具弗兰奇和高达折腾出来了，弗兰奇是关于渲染特效，是一个变形的过程，是Rhino加Grasshopper加Maxwell，高达是关于渲染动画，3dmax加Mental ray

Because I am still interested in movie effects, when I deal with media teaching I build models of Franky and Gundam. For the part of Franky, it’s about render and transformation with a process of rhino, grasshopper, and Maxwell. For the part of Gun dam, it’s about animation with a process of 3dmax and Mental ray.

4. 飞宅 Flying house
Fall 2014
Site：Da tian wan reservoir, Pulv town, Tongliang, Chongqing

2012年前后家乡大规模拆迁，于是给家里面设计一个房子的想法就应运而生，选址在小时候外公照看的大田湾水库，靠山面水，想法是将山上的泉水利用穿过整栋房子，屋顶是泳池，换水的时候延核心筒形成屋内瀑布，因为靠山，房子只有部分嵌入山体，形似飞出来是为飞宅。

Around 2012，there were large amounts of demolition and resettle in hometown. So the idea of designing a house for family came out. The site is located at the reservoir which my grandfather managed in my childhood. The house relies on the mountain and faces the reservoir. The concept is making use of the water from the mountain to go through the house. The top is swimming pool, so when you exchange the water, it will fall through the house like a fall. It’s called fly house because parts of house insert in the mountain and parts of it stretch out which looks like flying.

5. 浮躁的线 Chaos lines

早期做方案或者构思会想要一下子就有一个确定的答案，往往导致最后做出一个没内容的东西，慢慢地就理解到这些不确定的混乱的线才代表可能性，才觉得自己跨过了设计的门槛。

At the beginning, when I deal with a new project of concept I want to achieve a clear answer. In this case I often gain an outcome with no contents. With time going I slowly understand that these unclear and chaos lines mean a lot of possibilities, at this moment I feel that I enter the design world.
