项目概况
Project Overview

南开大学是世界知名的综合性大学，已建成的新校区位于天津市津南区海河教育园区，是南开大学的核心校区，肩负着南开大学未来的发展的重任。图书馆位于新校区核心区校园主入口，是南北礼仪中轴线的起点。项目除了担负图书馆、办公楼的基本功能外，还是新校区学校庆典、学术交流、毕业留影、日常参观等礼仪活动的场所。项目由三个单体建筑组成，成品字形布局。位于中心位置的图书馆是校园的主楼和制高点，是南开大学新的标志性建筑。建筑群总建筑面积74300㎡，用地面积109880㎡，容积率0.69。工程于2013年6月11日开始施工，2015年8月13日投入使用。建筑结构形式主要为框架，在图书馆顶层则创新性使用“桁架吊柱”构造方式，满足建筑功能要求。所用材料均就地取材，其中外檐采用反映天津当地文化的页岩砖和石材，严控成本，呼应城市地域文化。

Nankai University is a world known comprehensive university, the new campus was located in Jinnan district of Tianjin, Haihe education industry zone, it is the core campus of nankai universities. It shoulders some of the most important tasks regarding future developments. The library is located at main entrance of the new campus, representing the starting point of its civil etiquette central axis. This project, apart from providing the basic functions of libraries, the new school ceremony office building academic will serve as exchanges and a venue for graduation ceremonies. Activities of etiquette, such as daily visit places are also available in this ceremony office. This project is composed of three individual buildings, with a finished glyph layout. Located in the centre position of the library is the building of the campus and the commanding heights, is the new landmark of Nankai University. Buildings with a total construction area of 66500 ㎡, land area of 109880 ㎡, and a volume rate of 0.69. Began on June 11, 2013, officially finished on August 13, 2015. Architectural structure such as the frameworks, mainly in library are examples of top innovative uses of “hanging truss” structure, which meets the building functional requirements. Local materials are used in its construction, including outside eaves which reflects on Tianjin’s local culture shale brick and stone, control costs, and echo city regional culture.

The Design Concept

用创新态度传承南开大学精神 | Attitude inheritance with innovation spirit of Nankai University

南开大学老校区主楼建筑群于1963年建成，五十年来始终是学校的标志性建筑，是南开大学师生心中的精神图腾。老校区主建筑群由三栋建筑组成，建筑群呈品字形排布，正对校园主入口。核心建筑居于中央，两栋配楼东、西对称布置。对称的造型和平面布局，配合主楼的高塔强化了视觉轴线，渲染了建筑群浓重的仪式感。主楼是整个空间序列的高潮，是当时天津最高的建筑。其外檐形式受前苏联建筑的影响，古朴典雅、严整对称、气势雄伟。11层高的尖塔更代表了当时最顶尖的建造技术。

The old campus of Nankai university was built in 1963, the main building has always been a landmark in Tianjin for the last five decades, it acts as the spirit totem of the heart for teachers and students in Nankai University. Old campus main buildings are composed of three buildings, complex products with the font configuration, are main entrance to campus. Core in the central building, two flats east, and west with symmetrical layout. Symmetrical modelling and plane layout, with the main building of the tower to strengthen the visual axis, applying different layers of colours to a drawing complex, adding sense of weight. The main building is the climax of the whole space sequence, it was the highest building in Tianjin. Eaves outside its form is influenced by the former Soviet Union building, of primitive simplicity and elegant, neat symmetry and magnificence. Its 11 tall minarets implied the top construction technology at that time.

作为文化建筑，除了实现建筑的基本功能，更需要尊重人们在精神层面的诉求。南开大学老校区主楼已经使用超过半个世纪，早已熔炼成每一位南开人寄怀母校的情感寄托。项目作为新校区的主楼和标志建筑群，需要肩负和老校区主楼一样的使命。以尊重南开大学师生情感为核心，还原充满仪式感和纪念性的建筑序列，传承标志性的建筑形象，这些诉求都成为我们重现南开精神的建筑语言。

As a cultural construction, in addition to the basic function of the building, more need to respect people in spiritual demands. The main building of the old campus of nankai university have been used for more than half a century, already melting into each nankai people profundity of thoughts and feelings. Project as the main building of the new campus and symbol buildings, as well as need carry the equal mission like the old campus. To respect the emotion between teachers and students as the core of nankai university, restore full of sense of ceremony and monumental construction sequence, heritage landmark building image, can we make these demands a repeat of the spirit of nankai architectural language.

图书馆作为新校区主楼，在形制上延续老主楼 “长”、“塔”、“窗”、“高”、“围合式布局”等元素。真实地记录历史可以唤起人们熟悉的记忆，激发认同感。在传承的同时，我们希望创新性地打破形式限制，反映时代特征。经典融入进化的形式才能在这次历史更迭中完成更好的蜕变。方案改变了原主楼的苏联式建筑风格，用中式建筑逻辑去诠释原建筑想要表达的精神内涵。建筑以首层书库和大台阶为基座，二至五层阅览空间为主体，建筑长向展开180米，获得舒展的形体。建筑最终颇具中国传统建筑韵味，实现了独一无二的标志性。

Library is not so different from the main building in old campus, from the shape and structure on the continuation of “long”, “tower”, “window”, “high”, “enclosing layout” and other elements. Truthfully recorded history can arouse the people familiar with the memory, stimulate the sense of identity. In succession at the same time, we hope to break down the form of innovative limit, reflecting the characteristics of the era. Classic era into evolution form, in order to contribute more in the historical change of metamorphosis. This project changed the Soviet style from the original main building, instead it uses the Chinese architectural logic to interpret the spirit of the original building and what it wants to express. This building has the first floor stacked and big steps as the base, second to fifth floors reading space as the main body, 180 meters long and stretches the physique. Construction of Chinese traditional architecture’s lasting appeal, finally realize the unique signature.

此外，老主楼的尖塔没有功能。我们在“新塔”的设计中引入论文藏阅功能。建筑利用顶层大屋檐下稳定的日照和物理环境，实现了古籍善本藏阅功能。我们希望“高塔”不只是一个华丽的标签，或是一种纯粹的象征，而能够真实地作为精神的容器去承载一代又一代人的知识结晶。

In addition, the spire of the old main building has no function. We design the “new tower” to store paper. Construction using the big roof stability of sunlight and the physical environment, protects the ancient rare books. We hope that the “tower” is not just a label, or a purely symbolic form, but one that is able to truly act as a container to load generations after generations of knowledge.

突出图书馆的实用价值 | Highlights regarding the practical values of the library

1.强调各功能的竖向分区，提升空间的适应性和灵活度：大学图书馆不同于社会公益性图书馆，国家对其规模与投资有严格地控制。根据教育部的规定，新建高校图书馆建筑面积不能超过45000㎡，并需要同时容纳阅览、藏书、学术报告、办公等多样化功能，设计条件突出实用性。

1.The emphasis on the function of the vertical partition, room to improve the adaptability and flexibility: University library is different from social public welfares, the state has strict controls on the scale and investment. According to the regulation of the ministry of education, university library’s building areas are to be no more than 45000 ㎡, and are required to accommodate reading books, academic report, office and other diversified function, emphasizing practical designs.

建筑主要出入口设置于二层，通过一层大台阶和基座连接。台阶下的一层部分主要布置荷载较大的密集书库、设备用房等。南北两侧的大台阶是根据校方要求，为满足学校庆典舞台需求而建。循阶而上，入口大厅是建筑二层的核心空间。以大厅为核心，东西两侧设有电子阅览、多功能厅以及内部办公等功能区域。三至五层是图书馆最主要的阅览空间，占据了最好的采光与视野。阅览空间采用大空间结构，为空间提供使用弹性。六层及其夹层布置特藏与善本书库，我们对这部分平面进行了收分。同时，利用七层悬挑形成深远的檐下空间，为六层提供稳定的物理光环境。七层主要存放象征南开师生最高智慧结晶的各类论文，使图书馆的实用价值与文化价值取得一致。

On the other hand, the second floor, main entrance is placed through a layer of big steps and base connection. The steps of a layer of dense large stacks, part of the main layout load equipment room, etc. North and south on both sides of the grand staircase is in accordance with the requirements of the school, meeting the demand of school celebration stage. Follow in order to that entrance hall is the core of the building floor space. In the hall, the things on both sides are electronic reading rooms, multi-function hall, internal offices and other functional areas. Third to fifth floor is the main library reading room, occupied by daylighting and sceneries. Reading space consists of large space, providing optimum spaces for reading. Sixth floor and interfloors are decorated with special and rare book stacks, we receive points for this part of the plane. At the same time, the use of the cantilever form profound eaves space, provide stable physical light environment for six floors. Deposit seven-story main symbol of Nankai supreme wisdom crystallization of all kinds of paper, between teachers and students to make library’s practical value and cultural value consensus.

突出采光方式的精细化设计，实现阅览空间的核心需求 | Daylight based designs, the core of the reading room

自然光是最健康、最经济的光源，如何为图书馆室内创造适宜的光环境是我们设计工作的重点。在三至五层的阅览空间中，我们计算了最为合理的建筑进深尺寸，使人们无论在阅览室的哪个角落都能享受到均匀、舒适的自然光照。同时，引入共享空间屋顶采光窗，巧妙将直射光变成了漫射光，避免了眩光的出现。我们在七层的论文阅览大厅根据太阳入射角，设计了斜坡屋顶，将阳光更高效导入室内。

Natural light is the healthiest and an economical source, the way on creating a suitable light intensity environment is what we have been the focus on in the design. On the third to fifth floor, we calculated the most reasonable construction depth dimension, and are able to disperse light evenly and uniformly throughout the whole reading space regardless of where the reader’s location. At the same time, the introduction of Shared space roof light inlet window, clever direct light into the diffuse light, avoid the emergence of glare. We in the seventh floor of paper reading hall according to the sun Angle of incidence, design the slope roof, the more efficiently into the sunshine.

充分利用有限空间，创造丰富的室内外交流场所 | Making full use of limited space, creating abundant indoor and outdoor communication places

在本项目设计中，尽管面积有限且功能要求繁多，我们仍然坚持注入当代图书馆关注交流的理念，为使用者创造有趣味、有情感的空间体验。建筑首层在南北两侧均设计有大台阶。渲染仪式性的同时，我们结合绿化景观，将大台阶打造成重要的室外交流与活动场所。我们利用二层高低空间的高差设计了夹层。夹层室外露台扩展了使用者的活动区域。建筑三至五层结合开放式藏阅空间设计，设置有供小群体师生交流的研究厢，便于在阅读同时随时分享思考与心得。此外，我们还利用共享空间，将三层阅览空间贯通，增加使用者在建筑中交流的可能性。建筑顶层在南向设计了可以俯瞰整个校园的观景休息大厅。大厅内视野开阔，阳光充足，成为了师生重要的交流场所。

In the design of the project, although the area is limited and functional requirement varies, we are still able to infuse the concept of contemporary library focus on communication, for the user to experience interesting and a rather emotional space experience. On the first floor, big steps can be seen in both north and south sides of the building. Rendering the ritual, at the same time, we combined the landscape and the building, putting the big step into important exchanges and outdoor activity places. We use floor heights and the differences in elevations to create interfloors. Mezzanine outdoor terrace extends the active area of the user. Third to fifth floor is consisted of open reading space, consisting of small groups for the studies of communication between teachers and students, the aim of this idea is to let people express their ideas with minimum amount of effort, at any time. In addition, we also use Shared space, connecting the three floors of reading spaces, increasing the likelihood of communication around the space. The top floor on the south is a lounge at which people are able to relax and enjoy breathtaking view of the whole campus. This place will be the heart of the campus where everyone meets and communicates.
