Ikal, whose name in maya means “wind” or “spirit,” is a unique architectural space designed with the purpose of facilitating deep meditation and the contemplation of the nocturnal sky. This place is dedicated to inner discovery, spiritual searching, and the encounter with the transcendental, offering a refuge where individuals can connect with themselves under the serene and enveloping light of the stars.

The design of Ikal is the result of a harmonious fusion between modern architecture and the traditional materials of the region. The chukum cylinder that makes up most of the structure is meticulously protected by a stone albarrada shell, which not only serves as protection but integrates perfectly with the smooth surface of the chukum, creating a visual continuity and a sense of unity with the surrounding environment.

This entrance is framed by an albarrada rope that seems to detach from the building’s shell, creating a subtle yet striking visual effect that blurs the boundaries between the interior and exterior, merging the architectural space with the surrounding nature.
