Jenny Van Sommers是一位活跃在伦敦，美国，法国的创意设计和摄影师。她的客户是世界知名杂志和品牌诸如苹果，耐克，奥迪。这是她去年为意大利PLAIR杂志的一个发制品故事而拍摄的系列作品。她和合作伙伴Rachel在东伦敦的头发市场买了很多头发（也见识到了各种惊人的头发消费品），再将它们作为抽象图像的一部分进行拍摄。表现出各种发质的光泽，粗细，硬度，色彩等特点。最后的效果非常好，人们被照片里面的头发所吸引，想要买到那样的头发。

The images were shot for Italian fashion magazine Flair which was re-launched with a new creative team last year.

Jenny Van Sommers said :”

Rachel and I were commissioned to do an abstract story about hair products. Each product had a different effect, for example, the pink hair in the simplified rainbow shape is for colour enhancing shampoo, the star is for a conditioner that makes hair shine, the exclamation mark is for more volume, the hexagon for strength and the arrow is for longer length although it is hard to know how a shampoo can make your hair longer…

Rachel is a very exciting person to work with because her approach is very subtle and thought out. For her there has to be a reason to build a certain set, a meaning for the viewer to understand. I am usually just thinking of the image for myself, what I want to shoot, but Rachel is much more rigorous. She is very inspiring to work with.It definitely makes me think harder about the image, as sometimes I work very quickly and don’t think enough.

We bought the hair from a huge hair mall in Dalston in East London… I have never seen so many types of hair for sale… there is something strange about it, like buying shrunken heads. The pictures are quite surreal as it is so rare to see hair as an object. I see everything as objects out of context as a photographer because I am always looking at things in the abstract, as a part of an image. My photographs are rarely about looking at a subject, for me they are more about making a photograph, as something to be lit and composed in the set. It always shocks me when people ask me about the object, like I like that …where can I buy one, my response is “where can you buy what?” then I realises they are looking at the photograph in a completely different way. They see a thing being shown to them, not a photo. ”
